What is Hatha Yoga?

Yoga philosophy acknowledges that stress and negative experiences settle in our tissues and block pranic energy (life force) from flowing optimally through the body.  In the West most students start their yoga practice with Hatha Yoga. Ha (sun) represents the masculine, as expressed through activity. Ta (moon) symbolizes the feminine in the form of balance.

Hatha Yoga uses asanas (postures) and breathing techniques to integrate and harmonize the entire body. With conscious and regular practice the mind becomes calm and awareness increases. The body lengthens and strengthens, and energy channels open so prana can flow more freely throughout the body.

Anyone can practice yoga, regardless of age, gender or race or ability.
